Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and minced garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken or beef broth to the skillet, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  5. Stir in the dried thyme, dried rosemary, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. If you prefer a thicker sauce, whisk in the all-purpose flour until smooth and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  7. Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning the onion sauce over the top.
  8. Cover the skillet and simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the pork chops are heated through and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  9. Garnish the Pork Chops in Onion Sauce with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
